German peace activist Rüdiger Lenz is an outstanding martial artist and founded the non-combat principle. It is a holistic method to prevent destructive aggression, violent behavior, conflicts, fights, and even wars. Since 2002, the therapist, speaker, trainer and author has described himself as a noncombatant and says that conflicts can be largely resolved in advance if one is sensitized to one’s own behavior. Rüdiger Lenz has also been training other trainers to carry his non-combat philosophy out into the world.

The non-combat principle isn’t only effective when it comes to the relationships with our fellow human beings. Because many illnesses and disorientations have their origin in a combative attitude, which is directed against human beings and in the long run makes us sick to body and soul.

Lenz’s theory is that anyone who is fighting a supposed opponent, whether with fists or verbal low blows, is fighting oneself. Every alleged victory over an opponent in a conflict is ultimately a defeat because the relationship takes damage and the defeated person is seeking revenge or submitting “inner resignation”. The battle continues despite – or because of – the victory. More conflicts are fueled by fighting instead of being solved.

Only the non-combat principle offers the opportunity of a constructive, peaceful solution to conflicts or disputes. The urgently needed pacification of our society ends up unfolding in every single person’s brain and body. To achieve pacification, the non-combat principle offers important guidance and support.

At Human Connection we are convinced that a team is only strong and can achieve something positive together if it doesn’t waste energy on competition and competitive thinking, or worse disputes that could lead to aggressive actions. Let us improve this world together and begin with ourselves.

Many thanks to Rüdiger Lenz, for his important work and also for his support for Human Connection!
