The European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has taken effect on May 25 – and you have probably noticed the change from the many emails you received notifying you about privacy policy updates and other approvals requested on websites. For many organizations, bloggers and online platforms this meant a lot of preparation and effort in advance to implement the new principles with regards to data protection and privacy for all individuals within the EU.

At Human Connection, we also worked diligently behind the scenes to get everything ready for the GDPR. We have now successfully completed the implementation and have even chosen one of our own pioneers as our data protection officer.

Kudos and appreciation to our Martin who has dealt intensively with the new regulation and guidelines and has successfully implemented them with the entire team, except for a few open points which are still being addressed.

With regard to transparency and the protection of our private data, the GDPR intends to give EU citizens back the sovereignty over their data, including the transparency of what happens with their data in an increasingly data-driven world.

The new law symbolizes the start of a new era when it comes to the use of digital communication and our engagement with online media – it’s a clear indication of where the journey is heading.

As a non-profit organization with the goal to serve people we want to make it as easy as possible for you to use your social, knowledge and action network. Transparency, charity and human rights under the UN Charter are the basic principles on which we base our actions. Your data is important to us; this is also the reason why our server is located in Germany – that means the administration of the data we store is subject to the European data protection law.

What is really important to us:

  • We do not sell your data.
  • On Human Connection you can use a pseudonym and be who you want to be.
  • We are non-profit and only finance ourselves through donations.

Two of our core values that have shaped the creation of Human Connection include: You’re free to form your own opinion, and we value the integrity of each individual. We consider the knowledge, contribution and action of each individual to be worthy of consideration. That’s why we decided to provide you with the possibility to create contributions on Human Connection under a pseudonym – should you prefer to do so. There is no obligation to reveal your given name, and you are free to express your opinion.

Thanks to you and your support, we are motivated to building a network that is not driven by commercial interests but by the vision of creating peace in the world – we thank you for your contributions!
